DEER TRACK GOLF COURSE (260) 627-2121
Indiana Golf Course Review
Deer Track Golf Course just north of Ft Wayne is a beautiful golf course featuring manicured conditioning in a secluded, forested setting. This par 71 facility features well groomed bent grass tees, fairways and greens with rates that make a round here one of the better golf values in Northeast Indiana. This property has hosted many prestigious tournaments, including the Indiana Womens Open and Juniors Masters Championship in 1994 and the Indiana PGA Senior Open in 2004
Opened for play in 1990, this facility has one of the region's best practice areas with a targeted grass range and putting/chipping greens on property. The clubhouse features a pro shop plus snack area serving hot & cold sandwiches and beverages. A well appointed banquet/outing facility can accommodate up to 300 guests.
Four sets of tee boxes play to distances and slopes that measure (men) 6584 yards/125 slope, 6112 yards/121 slope, 5625 yards/161 slope for men, and 5021 yards with a slope rating of 115 for ladies hitting from the forward tees. 100, 150 and 200 yard markers are present on the fairways and cart paths, and sprinkler heads are also measured to the center of the green. Color coded flags indicate front, middle and back hole locations.
Golfers will encounter wide, gently sloping fairways - some parallel with mounding separating the playing areas. The putting surfaces are slightly raised or level, with only mild undulations. There is usually plenty of room off the tee, and also sufficient room greenside for up and down recoveries. Bump and run chips and low running pitches can be often utilized as the green complexes are often open in front.
Trees are present throughout the design, but there are only a few tightly nestled driving holes. Eight holes have water in play in some shape or form and 34 sand bunkers are strategically located greenside or near the landing zones on the fairways. Though the slope ratings are quite low, there is enough trouble to create an interesting round for all levels of players.
Nice conditioning, a good variety of hole designs, friendly service and a reasonable price structure warrant a good recommendation from twoguyswhogolf.com. For more info, visit our page for the course, with direct link to their website by clicking here.
