West Course Review
The West Course, though featuring water in play on 10 holes, is the more player friendly of the two layouts, with wide landing areas on most fairways. There are some interesting doglegs, most of which invite a right to left shot shape. The putting surfaces are small to medium in size and present lots of level space greenside, for easy up and downs and recoveries from slightly offline approaches. Bump and runs can be utilized extensively.
Four sets of tees play to distance and slopes 6942 yards/129 slope, 6507 yards/125 slope, 5530 yards/116 slope, with an alternate set for juniors and beginners playing to 4576 yards. The West course, like its sister course, presents challenge enough from the blue tees, and is very playable from the two forward sets. Mid handicappers will find the length to be formidable from the whites, though only 2 par fours measure more than 400 yards.
The West Course is also rated 4 out of 5 stars by Golf Digest Places to Play. Together, the East and West courses at Indiana National provide golfers with some excellent resort golf experiences - that can be enjoyed by all levels of players.
