Cobblestone Golf Club in Kendallville was awarded 4 1/2 stars by Golf Digest Places to Play in 2003, and is a Steve Burns championship design that was selected as one of "America's Best New Courses" in 1999. This property is located just 4 miles from the Best Western Kendallville, which features comfortable accommodations and a variety of stay and play golf packages - click here for more info.

Cobblestone hosted the NGA Hooters Tour in 1999, 2000 and 2001 and features wonderful conditioning from tee to green along a layout that features extremely rolling topography. The property includes a comprehensive practice facility with a grass range, putting green and short game area, plus a clubhouse with pro shop, full banquet/outing facilities, and a snack bar/lounge with sandwiches, beverages and snacks available. The grill is fired up on weekends for burgers and hot dogs, and a screened-in gazebo is available for small groups.

On the course cart paths provide permanent measurements to the center of the green at 100, 150 and 200 yards, and color coded blocks are also visible on the fairways. Scorecards provide info on the 6 pin placements, with hole locations alternating on these very putt-able greens which are medium in size and mild in undulation. Bunkering is under-stated, and open areas near most greens make recoveries and up and downs quite do-able. The bump and run technique can be very useful on this course. Four sets of tees provide opportunities to play to yardages and slopes measuring 6976 yards/130 slope, 6447 yards/126 slope, 5812 yards/116 slope and 4734 yards/110 slope.

Cobblestone is player friendly from the two sets of forward tees, and challenging from the tips, as ponds come into play on three holes on the back side, and creeks dissect the playing areas on 5 of the holes on the initial nine. The layout winds through a beautiful residential community, with the gorgeous homes located on the perimeter adding to the aesthetics of the experience. This is a great golfing value - and is highly recommend by the two guys who golf - and is just a 2 1/2 hour drive from Detroit.
